Sacred Spaces, Holy Places

Need your help today! Want to be a part of this week’s sermon? The topic is Sacred Spaces, Holy Places and I am continuing in the Psalms - Psalm 48.

As you can see, I am sitting at my favorite place to write, the breakfast table in the @HuntUMC parsonage. I have the map of Texas laid out before me. As I ponder the roads traveled and the sacred spaces, holy places encountered, I wonder can sacred geography really be mapped?

Maybe distance and direction are the keys to travel mapping? And maybe there are other factors?
For example, places where God was encountered in a special way. Spaces created by friends who stopped time and spoke truth through prayer that changed everything. Local churches who raised you up in the ways of Jesus and sent you with blessings. Congregations who nurtured you and your family along the way. Events or weekends of spiritual growth that provided clarity, purpose, and direction.

What do you say? Any special places you would like to mention? Any sacred spaces to be remembered with a stack of standing-stones?

My list is too long for this post or for this sermon. But one thing I know for sure today, the sacred conversation that I am blessed to share each week with so many folk I love dearly causes me to wonder and ponder the majesty and mystery of GodWithUs.

Be blessed today friends. Enjoy each moment along the way.

One reason we moved to Hunt is that we felt it was a sacred place (a thin place, if you will) the first time we came to this lovely little hamlet on the Guadalupe. We've experienced sacred places on six continents, and we know that God is with us, and He is in control, no matter where we are. Every place is sacred when we call on His holy name, but we do feel that Hunt is a particularly blessed and holy place. We're homesick for it now!

Paul, the photo brings tears of joy to my eyes. But, the photo doesn't do justice to what the view means to me on so many levels. HUMC is a sacred place for me. I am blessed beyond my wildest wants and prayers.

Harold Phenix and i were looking for a place about the same distance from our kids - Dallas and Houston, we remarried some years after our spouses died, Rita 1992, Homer Glenn 1993. i Think God found us a place in Hunt. While we had planned to build, the view at this place kept us coming back!! We called it our It bit of "Eden." I* think it was. Hunt was filled with such good, caring people and added purpose to our lives.
We are gone now -- Harold to Heaven, me to Rowlett, but the good memories, thank God, stay. HUMC played a good part of the happiness we shared, the memories i carry. Blessings to each of you. Joannie Phenix

Nature creates sacred places for me, as the magnificence of every detail is testament of the power and omnipotence of God. The view from my balcony and Muir Woods are favorites. “Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
